se7en

I currently teach resource at a local elementary school. Full-time. It keeps me on my toes -- especially as I try to simultaneously finish my own educational endeavors. But the kids are great. I wish there was a word that adequately described how fabulous I think my students are. I love getting up every morning to hear what they have to say.

Seven is one of my all-time favorite students. Yes, he really is named after the lucky number seven. And yes, he really is as odd as his name. But his quirks are what make him so endearing. He has a shirt with a skull embossed on front that he wears all. the. time.

(Last year he wore a gray suit coat everyday. He called it his "manager suit." He planned on overseeing some multimillion dollar company, taking over the world, and putting us all to shame. He dreamed big for a kid in second grade.)

He always signs his name in some creative way. 007. Detective 7. Se7en. Sometimes he's even Indiana Jones. I don't really care. I think his imagination is what makes him so awesome. He can sometimes get out of control, but he makes up for it by keeping me entertained. He says the darnedest things. Some of my favorite Sevenisms include:

Eh. Whatcha gonna do?
(This is always accompanied by a shoulder shrug.)

Me: What punctuation mark should go at the end?
S: The oddest mark of all: the question mark.

If I have to do one more math problem,
I am going to be...
dEsTrOYed!!!
