the debut

I'd like to apologize to those of you who noticed -- and commented on -- my absence. As you can see, this silly blog experienced quite the facelift. It took me a couple of days to decide if I really liked the new format.

... I'm still not sure if I do.

Having a blog sometimes makes me feel petty. It's all about me, after all. I had to laugh when our friend Ethan, after overhearing a discussion my roommates and I were having about blogging, asked what the names of our blogs were. "The Essence of Emma?" he said. "That sounds like some kind of perfume."

Okay, so maybe it does. But everyone seems to have a blog these days and, well, I really like this thing. So here's to another year of smelling great (get it?) and documenting my fabulously boring life. Huzzah!

I like the new layout. And the idea of you having your own perfume. Like a celebrity.

I think it's funny that you made it private while you work working on it. That's a good idea. I always wonder if someone happened to click on my blog for the few minutes that it's a little crazy in between changing how it looks. :) Hope you can get through the winter! I don't like the cold either. And last year, it snowed 2 feet on my birthday and we couldn't get to the store to buy eggs for my cake. I was very bitter. Hope it doesn't happen again! Knock on wood...

"Everything you do, you do exceptionally well!" I know nothing about making a blog, and if you hadn't mentioned it was different I wouldn't know this was permanent. I'll miss the bird, I think, but I'll enjoy the "essence" however you present it!!
